Request to athletics leagues and associations -

Chesterfield County is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all citizens as we respond to the constantly changing situation surrounding COVID-19. Considering the growing concerns about the potential spread of COVID-19, the County is taking appropriate actions to limit the spread in the community. Consistent with directives from the Virginia Governor’s Office and the Virginia Department of Health to limit public gatherings, the Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department has instituting the following steps until further notice:

•                  All County recreation centers, senior centers, historic sites, and the Rockwood Nature Center are closed.

•                  All Parks and Recreation special events, programs, and facility rentals (including picnic shelters) are cancelled. This includes department-sponsored and co-sponsored activities.

•                  Registrations will not be taken for programs and activities until further notice.

•                  No facility rentals will be scheduled until further notice.

•                  County parks will remain open. However, playgrounds, picnic shelters, basketball courts, tennis courts, and pickleball courts are closed. Signs are placed on these park amenities indicating closure.

•                  Outreach to sports leagues and organizations to curtail unauthorized recreation facility use.

•                  We encourage citizens to continue enjoying our trail system. More information is available on the Parks and Recreation website. 

•                  Patrons are recommended to take preventative action when visiting the park system including self-monitoring and practicing social distancing.
